Katelyn Read, a WV native, is a folk-blues singer songwriter now living in Raleigh, NC. She embraces lyrics that stir up hope, attempt to define love, and speak of the joy of living. Influenced by The Civil Wars, Amos Lee, and Ray Lamontagne, her sound blends folk melodies with a hint of blues and soul. She recently appeared on NBC’s popular reality TV singing competition The Voice, where she successfully auditioned and joined Christina Aguilera’s team. At the root of Katelyn’s music you will find the ebb and flow of haunting melodies intertwined with her deep love of lyrical poetry.
OPENING- Claybrook is a Heavy Mellow band, a project of Stephen Claybrook. Backed by Dale Baker (drums/percussion/vocals), Joe Wimberley (upright bass/vocals), and David Dollar (elec. guitar/vocals) the debut EP, On The Inside, is a melancholy acoustic travel diary of the treacherous inward journey through the swamps of the soul and the reemergence into hopeful engagement with fellow travelers. While Claybrook’s initial offering is in the indie singer/songwriter vein, the acoustic instrumentation brings hints of bluegrass, folk and even some jazz. Claybrook has drawn comparisons to artists such as Amos Lee, Ben Howard, Jose Gonzalez and, strangely enough, Radiohead.
